Teams Owners – Private Channels<\/h3>\n

By default, everything in a Teams site is accessible to all members of that Teams site.<\/p>\n

A new Teams<\/strong> feature, Private Channels<\/strong>, allows Teams Owners to create a channel in their Teams site that is accessible only to a subset of the members of that Teams site. This can avoid the need to create a separate Teams site to restrict access to a channel file tab and its associated conversations.<\/p>\n

Privately channels are a new feature to Teams sites.<\/a><\/p>\n

Apps must be installed first to the Team site before being “Activated” in a private channel. If a team owner has restricted app installation to owners only, a private channel owner may need to request installation prior to adding an app tab.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately,\u00a0there are certain Apps (for instance Planner) which have a pretty tight connection to an Office 365 Group. Because the private channel has a site collection which is NOT<\/strong> group connected, those Apps are NOT<\/strong> available. It is anticipated that Microsoft will provide a solution, but there is no timeline on availability.<\/p>\n
