This service provides professional project management to university departments for the initiation, planning and delivery of IT products and systems that support the University.

Project Management Office (PMO)


There is no charge to engage the PMO for projects overseen by Carleton’s Information Systems Steering Committee or the CIO.

    • Obtaining approval for new projects
    • Clarifying project scope
    • Managing project budget
    • Engaging stakeholders to ensure project success
    • Planning project deliverables  and activities
    • Securing project human resources
    • Organizing project communications
    • Managing project risks and issues and employing response strategies
    • Managing project work and activities in an integrative fashion
    • Assessing project quality in line with client expectations
    • Developing project reporting
    • Closing the project upon completion and sign-off
  • Non-Standard Features:
    • Assisting with securing funding for projects
    • Assisting in the acquisition of products and services for the project
    • Planning and delivering change management activities
    • Providing project management training and consultations
  • Service Exclusions
    • Projects not overseen by the ISSC or the CIO
    • System support upon delivery and closure of project
