David S. Koffman is the J. Richard Shiff Chair for the Study of Canadian Jewry, an Associate Professor in the Department of History, and a cultural and social historian of 19th and 20th century Jewish life in the United States and Canada. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Canadian Jewish Studies \/ \u00c9tudes juives canadiennes<\/em> https:\/\/cjs.journals.yorku.ca\/index.php\/cjs\/issue\/archive<\/a><\/p>\n

His first book, The Jews’ Indian: Colonialism, Pluralism and Belonging in America<\/em><\/a> (winner of the 2020 Association for Jewish Studies’ Jordan Schnitzer Book Award), investigates the history of American Jewish relationships with Native Americans, both in the realm of cultural imagination and in face-to-face encounters about encounters between American Jews and Native Americans (Rutgers University Press 2019). https:\/\/www.rutgersuniversitypress.org\/the-jews-indian\/9781978800908<\/a><\/p>\n

Koffman’s new publication No Better Home<\/a><\/em> is informative and timely. The writers and their articles represent Jewish life in Canada as it was lived, and as it is lived today.
