{"id":5643,"date":"2021-02-08T19:20:41","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T00:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/jewishstudies\/?page_id=5643"},"modified":"2021-03-17T14:19:06","modified_gmt":"2021-03-17T18:19:06","slug":"2019-teachers-workshop","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/jewishstudies\/holocaust\/resources\/resources-for-educators\/2019-teachers-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Teachers&#8217; Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>The Zelikovitz Centre is proud of this work, produced in collaboration with CHES between 2015-2020, while CHES was affiliated with the ZC.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>The 2019 Teachers\u2019 Workshop took place Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Temple Israel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2019 Holocaust Education Month theme: Antisemitism Then and Now<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">This year marked 81 years since the outbreak of World War II.\u00a0\u00a0 This year\u2019s theme for Holocaust Education Month (HEM) was\u00a0<i>Antisemitism Then and Now<em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/i>We live in a world that is constantly changing, we are challenged by the rise of far-right extremist groups, fake news, and the\u00a0increase in antisemitism and racism.\u00a0This reality compelled us to focus HEM programs on antisemitism. It is a theme that ran through this HEM launch event and two of our workshops, the Teachers\u2019 Workshop and a Law Enforcement Workshop.\u00a0 A theme that\u00a0offers points of entry for learning about the dangers of hate and discrimination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The Teachers\u2019 Workshop theme explored the complexities of antisemitism through the Ages and was facilitated by Bernie Farber\u00a0the CEO of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network. His career spans more than a quarter of a century focusing on human rights, anti-racism, pluralism and inter-ethnic\/faith\/race relations. His efforts have been documented in numerous Canadian human rights publications, newspapers, and magazines. He is a former chief executive officer of the Canadian Jewish Congress and his expertise has been sought by a broad range of organizations. And by\u00a0Len Rudner\u00a0a member of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network. He is a Principal at Len Rudner &amp; Associates, a consultancy focusing on community advocacy, diversity, and human rights. He is the former Director of Community Relations and Outreach for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA).<\/p>\n<p>The material presented in the 2019 Teachers\u2019 Workshop on November 14 is available here.\u00a0 Below are links to resources used during the 2019 Teachers\u2019 Workshop.
