Religion, Society and Social Consciousness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carleton University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Pingalwara Society of Ontario, are hosting a symposium titled:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Religion, Society and Social Consciousness:\u00a0<\/strong>Investigating Religiously Inspired and Organized Community Service and Social Movements<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dr. Deidre Butler, Director of the Zelikovitz Centre, will be giving a talk titled &#8211; &#8220;To Mend the World: Jewish Feminism and Tikkun Olam&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The theme of the symposium is to study religious inspired initiatives aimed to serve the needy members of society, such as the sick, disabled, hungry, poor, or neglected. \u00a0Furthermore, the symposium\u2019s objective is to understand the concept of\u00a0<em>Service<\/em>\u00a0as inspired by the teachings and principles of a particular faith and how this translates into the\u00a0<em>Service<\/em>\u00a0of humanity.<\/p>\n<p>Research papers from the Sikh, Jewish and Christian perspective will be presented.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium is scheduled for October 16, 2017 (10:00 AM &#8211;
