Committee members of the Centre for Holocaust Education and Scholarship and the Carleton community were very saddened to hear of the passing of David Shentow on June 12, 2017.<\/p>\n

David was our dear friend. He was a Holocaust survivor who lived in Ottawa since the 1950s. Since the late 1990s, David devoted his time to educate many generations of students. David was a kind and gentle person. Commenting on his passing, Dr. Deidre Butler described David as being \u201cTireless in his commitment to honouring the victims of the Sloah and resisting Holocaust denial at every step. His generosity of spirit in speaking, despite his staggering sorrow and pain, was humbling and inspiring. He touched so many lives and taught so many.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following tributes are from the memorial service that was held on Wednesday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Soloway Jewish Community Centre in Ottawa.<\/p>\n
