{"id":6070,"date":"2017-06-23T12:25:48","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T16:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/jewishstudies\/?p=6070"},"modified":"2021-03-02T12:31:39","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T17:31:39","slug":"cbc-u-of-o-holocaust-scholar-says-hes-a-target-of-polish-hate-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/jewishstudies\/2017\/cbc-u-of-o-holocaust-scholar-says-hes-a-target-of-polish-hate-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"CBC: U of O Holocaust scholar says he&#8217;s a target of Polish &#8216;hate&#8217; campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An eminent Canadian historian whose writings on the Holocaust in Poland have attracted death threats said Tuesday that fierce criticism of his research is an unjustified attack on academic freedom.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview, University of Ottawa Prof. Jan Grabowski, 55, said he would not allow the &#8220;campaign of hate&#8221; to distract him from delving into what he called an ugly, but little-told, piece of history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I feel personally attacked but this is for me a much more dangerous and general problem that has to be dealt with,&#8221; Grabowski told The Canadian Press from Ottawa. &#8220;It&#8217;s a pure and simple attack on basic academic freedoms, which we take for granted here in Canada.
