Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to bring together staff, faculty, students and community partners to drive purpose through higher education.<\/strong> During Giving Tuesday (November 29th), a short window of opportunity opens when Carleton University matches funds to increase the size of your donation towards the Centre\u2019s work to confront antisemitism, support students, educate about the Holocaust, and bring world-class Jewish Studies programming to Carleton and Ottawa.<\/p>\n

Below are campaigns that support the work of the Zelikovitz Centre at Carleton University. We greatly appreciate any and all contributions.<\/p>\n

Hear Our Voices: Holocaust Survivors Share their Stories of Trauma and Hate<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

In 2021, Professor Deidre Butler and her team of researchers filmed seven powerful oral history interviews for the Hear Our Voices: Holocaust Survivors Share their Stories of Trauma and Hate project. This is a key historical moment as those who personally bear witness to this history are passing, and the next generation steps into the gap to reflect on their own relationship to the Shoah. Our e-campus Ontario funded project used short segments from each interview in four online modules to illustrate key historical ideas, but hours of precious unused footage remain. Before their stories are lost, help survivors, members of the second generation, and the families of righteous gentiles share their family\u2019s history of the Shoah with students, educators, and the public.<\/p>\n

Help us create seven short educational films that will preserve history and empower our students and professors to meaningfully engage the trauma of the Holocaust and reflect on the enduring threat of antisemitism.<\/p>\n

2022 Jewish Foodways Student Workshop, KBI, Ottawa<\/em><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Partner with the Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies and support all of the work we do, supporting students, faculty and researchers, developing dynamic in-person and online programming, and bringing the best of Jewish studies to our campus, our community and the world. From teaching students about Jewish cultures around the world through a foodways workshop, to developing new oral histories with survivors and the second generation, from inviting world-class speakers for public lectures, to working with community partners to celebrate and understand Jewish history and culture, your gift to our general fund gives us the flexibility to respond quickly to new opportunities every day. Religion and Culture Travel Course: Jerusalem Connections<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Students from across every faculty at Carleton register in Religion courses because they recognize that religion and culture are key to understanding the world we live in. This travel course, Jerusalem Connections, provides students with a transformative educational experience. In May 2023, 22 students will travel to Jerusalem and its environs, exploring its history and the diverse religious and cultural communities.
\nSupport our students to participate in this travelling classroom and empower them with the knowledge and experience to think critically about the historical and contemporary significance of this place that is so important to so many people around the world. <\/p>\n
