{"id":2860,"date":"2020-10-28T12:29:06","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T16:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/?page_id=2860"},"modified":"2021-09-21T11:30:03","modified_gmt":"2021-09-21T15:30:03","slug":"why-wont-my-media-upload","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/why-wont-my-media-upload\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Won&#8217;t my Media Upload?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before troubleshooting, please check <a href=\"https:\/\/status.kaltura.com\/\">Kaltura\u2019s System Status<\/a> page to see if there is a system-wide issue affecting video playback.<\/p>\n<h3>Initial Troubleshooting<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The number one cause for media failing to upload to Kaltura&#8217;s MediaSpace is internet speed. You can test your internet speed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedtest.net\/\">Speettest.net<\/a>. Pay particular attention to the upload speeds. Lower upload speeds can cause the uploading process to take longer. A minimum of 5 mbps is recommend for uploading to MediaSpace.<\/li>\n<li>The longer it takes to upload media to the MediaSpace server, the more prone to error the video is. This is why it&#8217;s a good idea to upload your media to MediaSpace when you are experiencing fast internet speeds and have a good connection.<\/li>\n<li>You can choose to upload your Kaltura Personal Capture videos at a later time by following the instructions on our <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/personal\/record-with-personal-capture\/?preview_id=1331&amp;preview_nonce=f2eaaa13c0&amp;preview=true#sect3\">Record and Upload with Personal Capture<\/a> support page.<\/li>\n<li>To increase your internet speed, you can try the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Connect to your router using an ethernet cable.<\/li>\n<li>Close all other applications and browser tabs.<\/li>\n<li>If Wi-Fi is a must, ensure no other devices are connected to the Wifi.<\/li>\n<li>Consider investing in faster internet packages through your service provider.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Like many of Carleton\u2019s supported web-services, we strongly recommend using Chrome as your browser.<\/li>\n<li>Even if your internet speed is fast, slow or bogged-down computers can lead to uploading issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Have you tried all of the following?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/where-to-get-help\/#sect10\">Lower the quality of your recording<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/where-to-get-help\/#sect9\">Re-upload your recording<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/where-to-get-help\/#sect11\">Manual uploading of the raw recording files to MediaSpace<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Still not uploading?<\/h3>\n<p>Is your video still not uploading?
