In other words, it&#8217;s a great way to gather information about video engagement! <strong>Video analytics update every 24 hours.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to access Kaltura Analytics for any video in your MediaSpace,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaspace.carleton.ca\/my-media\">mediaspace.carleton.ca<\/a> using your\u00a0<em>MyCarletonOne\u00a0<\/em>credentials.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the video of interest.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0<strong>Actions<\/strong> menu under the video player.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Analytics<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%; background-color: #f0f0f0;\"><strong><em>Note:<\/em> <strong style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\">Kaltura&#8217;s Analytics Dashboard is not a tool that can be used to monitor graded participation. There are many browsers, computers, and even networks that will block analytics.kaltrua.com from collecting user information. Therefore, it remains possible that students could be watching videos and their information would not be included in the Analytics Dashboard<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>How-To Video<\/h2>\n<p>The following how-to video demonstrates how to access Kaltura&#8217;s Analytics for your media items and how to navigate the Analytics Dashboard.<\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%; background-color: #f0f0f0;\"><strong><em>Note:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Chapters have been created, using <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/mediaspace\/edit-your-media\/create-chapters\/\">Kaltura&#8217;s Timeline feature<\/a>. So, here is a glossary to explain their terminology.<\/p>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-authenticated-user\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-authenticated-user\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Authenticated user<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-authenticated-user\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>An <strong>authenticated user <\/strong>is\u00a0a user who has logged into <a href=\"https:\/\/mediaspace.carleton.ca\/my-media\">mediaspace.carleton.ca<\/a> or who is viewing a video that has been embedded into the learning management system using the Kaltura plugin (see <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/embed-media-into-culearn\/\">Embed Media into CuLearn<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/kaltura\/embed-media-into-brightspace\/\">Embed Media into Brightspace<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-average-completion-rate\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-average-completion-rate\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Average Completion Rate<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-average-completion-rate\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>average completion rate <\/strong>is the average percentage of times that the media was viewed to completion.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-average-view-time\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-average-view-time\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Average View Time<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-average-view-time\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>average view time <\/strong>is the average time your audience spent viewing the media.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-plays\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-plays\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Plays<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-plays\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>A <strong>play<\/strong> is the number of times the media item actually began playing within the set date range.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-player-impression\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-player-impression\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Player Impression<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-player-impression\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>A <strong>player impression<\/strong> is a count of how many times the media was presented and is ready to be played (but not played yet). So, every time the page is refreshed and the media is re-displayed, it is counted as an additional impression. Pressing the Play button after pressing Pause will not be counted as an additional impression..<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-top-engaged-users\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-top-engaged-users\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Top Engaged Users<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-top-engaged-users\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> top engaged users<\/strong> is a list of the top users who played the media items.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-top-plays-in-channels\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-top-plays-in-channels\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Top Plays in Channels<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-top-plays-in-channels\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> top plays in channels<\/strong> is a list of the top channels in which the media item was played.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-top-plays-in-playlists\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-top-plays-in-playlists\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Top Plays in Playlists<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-top-plays-in-playlists\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> top plays in playlists <\/strong>is a list of the top playlists in which the media item was played.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-unique-authenticated-views\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-unique-authenticated-views\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Unique Authenticated Views<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-unique-authenticated-views\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>A <b>unique authenticated view<\/b> is referred to as the number of <em>users\u00a0<\/em>that press play and their viewership throughout the entry (but only counted once per authenticated viewer).<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-views\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-views\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Views<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-views\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>A <b>view<\/b> is referred to as the number of <em>users\u00a0<\/em>that press play and their viewership throughout the entry.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-view-drop-off\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-view-drop-off\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">View Drop Off<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-view-drop-off\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>The <b>view drop off<\/b> is the average duration (expressed as percent) that users have reached within video before leaving.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-visit\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-visit\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Visit<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-visit\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>A <b>visit<\/b> is the number of times the media item was loaded on a page within a set date range.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How is your audience engaging with your video?
