Hosted at CU@Kanata, Innovation Morning<\/a> is a signature event series that unites research, policy, and industry to explore meaningful solutions to emerging challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From construction models and sensor data to inspection records and geospatial datasets, the buildings and infrastructure Canada depends on generate vast amounts of information. Yet much of it remains fragmented across systems, formats, and disciplines, limiting its potential to inform decision-making and long-term planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us for our next Innovation Morning<\/strong> on Building Canada\u2019s Digital Twin<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 an engaging session exploring how researchers at Carleton\u2019s Immersive Media Studio (CIMS) are developing a unified, open platform to connect and activate this data. Through expert insights and real-world applications, we\u2019ll examine how the platform brings together building information, geospatial data, and operational systems into a shared environment that supports analysis, visualization, and collaboration across sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This session will also highlight how the platform is being applied with federal partners, and where opportunities exist for industry, government, and research organizations to contribute to its continued development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker presentations will be followed by an interactive Q&A session<\/strong> and dedicated networking time<\/strong>, providing space for discussion and connection among innovators, researchers, and industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephen Fai<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Professor, Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism \/ Director, Carleton Immersive Media Studio<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Fai has built an international reputation in the application of building information modelling (BIM) for heritage conservation. He was the principal investigator for the BIM of the West and Centre Blocks and the Library of the Parliament Hill National Historic Site, under contract to Public Services and Procurement Canada (2013-2018). Dr. Fai has also developed a series of large-scale geospatial models for built asset management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His research addresses six discrete but intertwined streams of research: digitization; modelling; simulation; digitally-assisted fabrication; digitally-assisted storytelling; and digital twinning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
