The Transforming Knowledge, Research and Activism (TDKRA) invites you to join us for our Film Screening event, entitled \u201cOur Journey<\/i>: An Interdisciplinary Conversation with Women and Girls with Disabilities across Borders\u201d. Our Journey<\/span><\/i> <\/span>is a documentary film figuring the collective voice of girls and women with disabilities <\/span>in Vietnam, who engage in the TDKRA project from 2017-2019. <\/span>We tell stories drawn on our <\/span>past and present experiences with <\/span>disability, our journey against institutional racism<\/span>, ableism, gender inequality<\/span>, and our desire and actions to foster positive social change in the global South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screening will be followed by an interdisciplinary conversation about the film with Deborah Stienstra, Claudia Mitchell, Thuy Linh Dang, Landon Pearson, and Xuan Thuy Nguyen. It will also present an exhibition space with drawings and photos taken from the perspectives of women and girls with disabilities in the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deborah Stienstra is Professor in Disability Studies at the Department of Political Science and Director of the Live Work Well Centre at the University of Guelph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claudia Mitchell is Distinguished James McGill Professor and Director of the Institute of Human Development and Well-being at McGill University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Landon Pearson, Chair, Landon Pearson Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children\u2019s Rights, Carleton University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linh Dang is a young woman with disabilities studying at the Hanoi Law School, and a Research Assistant of the TDKRA project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xuan Thuy Nguyen is Assistant Professor in the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies, the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women\u2019s and Gender Studies at Carleton University, and the TDKRA project\u2019s Principal Investigator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
