As part of the Faculty of Public Affair’s Living Book<\/strong><\/a> series, Prof. Stacy Douglas<\/a><\/strong> and Prof. Dale Spencer<\/strong><\/a> are two of the selected FPA faculty members who can be \u201csigned out\u201d so that guests can talk to them about their research for a 10 or 20 minute time period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Douglas<\/strong> is interested in the question: what is law? How are we able to draw a border around what it is and what it isn\u2019t? Her current research argues that any clear delimitation between what law is and isn\u2019t is a mythological one. Come and chat with her about how we define \u201claw\u201d, and how we might think about what it \u201cis\u201d as deriving from multiple and unexpected sites. Prof. Spencer<\/strong>‘s research interest is on marginalized populations, with specific interest in victims, youth and the homeless. He utilizes the methodological tools associated with qualitative research to understand how these groups experience and interpret their worlds. What are the challenges of accessing and conducting research with oft hard to reach and precarious populations?
