\n Congratulations to First PhD Legal Studies Program Graduate\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

It is with great pleasure that the Department of Law and Legal Studies announces the successful thesis defence by PhD Candidate Rebecca Bromwich.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca went before the Examination Board on March 26, 2015, in defense of her PhD thesis entitled, “Re-Reading Ashley: A Critical Discourse Analysis of Figures of Ashley Smith as Girl”<\/strong>. The panel was pleased with the thesis defence, noting the importance of Rebecca’s dissertation in helping others to understand the relationship of female agency to current structures of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The completed defence is a noteworthy milestone in the history of the Department – Rebecca is the first candidate to graduate from the PhD in Legal Studies program, which had its inaugural cohort in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Department is tremendously excited about crossing this threshold,” adds the Department’s Chair, Prof. Ron Saunders. “We’re especially proud to mark this occasion with the excellent work of such a strong candidate.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPDATE:<\/strong> The completed thesis is set to be published as a book through Demeter Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
