He holds a Ph. D. from Warwick\u2019s Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies, an M.A. from the School of English at the University of Sussex, and Graduate Diplomas in Law and in Legal Practice from the School of Law of Oxford Brookes University.&nbsp; At Warwick he was also the Director of the Death Penalty Project and an affiliated faculty member of the Centre for Caribbean Studies.&nbsp;Dr. Kaisary\u2019s current research focuses on human rights and radical universalism. During 2015-16, he has been a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Robert Penn Wright Center for the Humanities and at the Law School of Vanderbilt University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"business-law-transnational-law\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17778 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Umut-Ozsu-240x262.jpg\" alt=\"Umut Ozsu\" width=\"138\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Umut-Ozsu-240x262.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Umut-Ozsu-160x175.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Umut-Ozsu-400x436.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Umut-Ozsu-360x393.jpg 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Umut-Ozsu.jpg 616w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 138px) 100vw, 138px\" \/><\/figure>Business Law \/ Transnational Law<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Umut \u00d6zsu<\/strong> comes to us from the University of Manitoba where he has been a member of the Faculty of Law since 2011. His doctorate in Law is from the University of Toronto; he also holds an LL.M., a J.D. and an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Toronto. At Manitoba, he has taught a variety of courses, including contract law, public international law, and an introduction to socio-legal studies and legal theory.&nbsp;He has published widely in a variety of journals and in 2015 his book,&nbsp;<em>Formalizing Displacement: International Law and Population Transfers<\/em>, was published by Oxford University Press. His research interests include business law, transnational law, migration, and international economic law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"critical-migration-refugee-and-immigration-law-and-policy\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17776 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Megan-Gaucher-240x264.jpg\" alt=\"Megan Gaucher\" width=\"136\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Megan-Gaucher-240x264.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Megan-Gaucher-160x176.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Megan-Gaucher-400x439.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Megan-Gaucher-360x395.jpg 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/law\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/110\/Megan-Gaucher.jpg 610w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 136px) 100vw, 136px\" \/><\/figure>Critical Migration, Refugee, and Immigration Law and Policy<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Megan Gaucher<\/strong> has been a member of the Department of Gender and Women\u2019s Studies at Trent University since 2013 and holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Queen\u2019s University, as well as an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Alberta. Her research focus on migration studies and immigration and refugee law and policy has an exceptionally strong interdisciplinary orientation, and her background in political science, gender studies and the sociology of the family make her an excellent addition to our department.
