We welcome traditional essays, photo essays, recorded oral submissions, and other creative responses to the call. The winners will be selected by members of the Towards Anti-Oppression Subcommittee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be two awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One undergraduate student submission: should be approx. 2000 words (or roughly the equivalent in an alternate format). The winner will receive $500;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One graduate student submission: should be approx. 5000 words (or roughly the equivalent in an alternate format). The winner will receive $1000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A cover letter that includes i) an explanation of the significance of their work to the topic of law and oppression; and ii) a short equity self-identification statement; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their submission in a shareable format.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications \u2013 and any questions! \u2013 should be submitted <strong>by midnight on 28 April 2023<\/strong>&nbsp;with the subject heading &#8220;Essay Prize&#8221;&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Stacy.Douglas@carleton.ca\">Stacy.Douglas@carleton.ca<\/a>.&nbsp; Winners will be notified by 15 May 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award has been made available thanks to the Associate Dean of Equity and Inclusion, Faculty of Public Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Towards Anti-Oppression Subcommittee welcomes submissions for a one-time \u201cessay\u201d prize for work on law and anti-oppression (broadly construed) by students who identify as 2SLGBTQ+, racialized, Indigenous, poor or working class, neurodiverse and\/or disabled.
