Event Details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We will kick off the year-end celebration in Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre’s<\/a> <\/strong>(CDCC) beautiful main sanctuary space with a video presentation that will reflect on how Carleton University has honoured the life and legacy of Leonardo da Vinci over the past 12 months with the event series, Cinquecento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, attendees will be treated to a SmarTalk Leonardo da Vinci performance by Gruppo Jobel (find more about the group and their incredible work below!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the performance, we invite all attendees to gather in the CDCC’s multi-purpose room for a reception, including hot coffee and delicious desserts generously provided by Sala San Marco Event and Conference Centre<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Gruppo Jobel and SmarTalk Leonardo da Vinci<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gruppo Jobel<\/a> <\/strong>is an international cultural organization that has committed to raising awareness and engagement about social and environmental issues through artistic and educational programs since 2000. Working both globally and locally, it supports governments, institutions, UN Agencies, NGOs, the private sector, educational organizations, and local communities to deliver cultural messages related to sustainable visions, turning carelessness into responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SmarTalk<\/strong> is a new format launched by Gruppo Jobel in 2018. It is a performing arts composition designed around guest speakers in conferences or events and an innovative format to communicate content. The Leonardo da Vinci SmarTalk is particularly special due to da Vinci’s polyedric personality. Attendees can expect guest speakers, music, dance, storytelling in one original live event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Canadian edition of the SmarTalk Leonardo da Vici has been originally produced with the contribution of Italian and Swiss Embassies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guest Speakers:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Angelo B. Mingarelli<\/strong>, Ph.D., is Professor of Mathematics at Carleton University, Canada where he has been an active teacher and researcher for the past 25 years. He is the author of over 100 scientific articles and six books, two of which are educational and the rest are research oriented monographs. Prior to joining Carleton University, he was Professor of Mathematics at the University of Ottawa for 12 years. As an academic, he was President of the Carleton University Academic Staff Association (a certified trade union in Ontario) for three terms and served on its Board for eight years. As well, he sat as a faculty member on the Carleton University Board of Governors for a three year term. He is currently interested in creating art for sentient AI beings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Masud Taj<\/strong>, award winning Adjunct Professor at Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, was mentored by David Hosbrough in the Italic Hand. His book Embassy of Liminal Spaces<\/em>, interfacing architecture and poetry with thirty-three calligraphic plates, is permanently installed in Canadian Chancery, Bangalore, India and inducted into the Library of Parliament, Canada. He delivered the FPA Research Series talk Leonardo Da Vinci: From Baghdad to Bayezid <\/em>(Oct 1) and \u201cVitruvian Man\u201d as Renaissance Selfie <\/em>(Dec 7). Last year he went on a two month round-the-world lecture tour, visiting sixteen cities, and holding thirteen events pertaining to architecture and poetry, including an exhibition of his calligraphy in Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n
