The International Development Research Centre<\/a> (IDRC) and the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN)<\/a>, based at Carleton University, would like to invite you to a panel discussion and launch of \u201c<\/em>Mobilizing Global Knowledge: Refugee Research in an Age of Displacement<\/em><\/a>\u201d<\/em>, edited by Susan McGrath and Julie E. E. Young. The book launch will take place on 10 October 2019 from 12:00 \u2013 2:30 at IDRC<\/strong> (8th<\/sup> floor, 150 Kent Street, Ottawa).<\/p>\n

The book is an edited collection that reflects on the 10-year experience of the Refugee Research Network<\/a> and its work in conceptualizing and building a global network for refugee research, conducting ethical research on forced migration, and amplifying voices from the global south. It captures and reflects on how to build networks for knowledge production and mobilization, what was accomplished and the challenges of bridging silos, sectors, regions and engaging across global north-south tensions. The event features a discussion of the key themes of education, big data, and environmental displacement.<\/p>\n

The event will be introduced by Arjan de Haan, Director Inclusive Economies at IDRC, and moderated by James Milner, Professor Political Science at Carleton University. The two editors of the book will be part of the panel.<\/p>\n

Le livre est un recueil \u00e9dit\u00e9 qui refl\u00e8te les dix ann\u00e9es d\u2019exp\u00e9rience Refugee Research Network<\/a> et son travail de conceptualisation et de construction d\u2019un r\u00e9seau mondial de recherche sur les r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s, menant des recherches \u00e9thiques sur la migration forc\u00e9e, et l\u2019amplification des voix du sud global. Il capture et r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit sur la mani\u00e8re de cr\u00e9er des r\u00e9seaux pour la production et la mobilisation des connaissances, sur ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 accompli et sur les d\u00e9fis li\u00e9s \u00e0 la mise en parall\u00e8le des silos, des secteurs, des r\u00e9gions et \u00e0 la r\u00e9solution des tensions nord-sud. L’\u00e9v\u00e9nement comprend une discussion sur les th\u00e8mes cl\u00e9 de l’\u00e9ducation, du Big Data et du d\u00e9placement de l’environnement.<\/p>\n

L’\u00e9v\u00e9nement sera pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par Arjan de Haan, directeur, \u00c9conomies Inclusives au CRDI, et anim\u00e9 par James Milner, professeur de sciences politiques \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 Carleton. Les deux r\u00e9dacteurs du livre feront partie du panneau.<\/p>\n
