She is an anthropologist and filmmaker who received her training at Harvard\u2019s Sensory Ethnography Lab, and is the creator of two grassroots media collectives in Lebanon, the Nakba Archive and Lens on Lebanon. Her ethnography, <i>Refugees of the Revolution: Experiences of Palestinian Exile<\/i>\u00a0(Stanford University Press, 2014) won the 2014 MEMO Palestine academic book award and the 2015 Middle East Section Award at the American Anthropological Association. She was a recipient of a 2013 Guggenheim Fellowship in anthropology and film, and her ethnographic films\u00a0<i>Chatila, Beirut<\/i>\u00a0(2001),\u00a0<i>Still Life<\/i>\u00a0(2007),\u00a0<i>Nakba Archive Excerpts<\/i>\u00a0(2008),\u00a0<i>Fire Under Ash<\/i>\u00a0(2009),\u00a0<i>Terrace of the Sea<\/i>\u00a0(2010), and\u00a0<i>So Dear, So Lovely<\/i> (2018) have screened in international film festivals and as gallery installations. Her current research projects\u2013\u2013both written and filmic\u2013\u2013explore the politics of Beirut\u2019s informal economy and Palestinian littoral life, past and present. In 2022, Allan collaborated on a photography exhibition on the historic souqs of Palestine, titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgill.ca\/lin-centre\/channels\/event\/rgdst-souq-stories-reclaiming-commons-337855\"><em>Souq Stories: Reclaiming the Commons<\/em><\/a>.
