Janemary Ruhundwa is the founder and Executive Director of DIGNITY Kwanza\u2014Community Solutions (DIGNITY Kwanza<\/a>). With about 20 years of experience, Ms Ruhundwa has dedicated over 15 years of her career to addressing forced displacement and statelessness in Tanzania. This work began with the UNHCR and Asylum Access before she founded DIGNITY Kwanza, a national organization committed to advocating for refugee and nationality rights to foster social and economic development<\/p>\n

Ms Ruhundwa\u2019s most notable career milestones include successfully founding and sustaining DIGNITY Kwanza for over six years despite challenging conditions. Through the work of DIGNITY Kwanza, Ms Ruhundwa contributes to restoring hope to refugees, forcibly displaced persons and other vulnerable migrants by assisting them in navigating asylum procedures and advocating for their inclusion. The work of DIGNITY Kwanza has also contributed to maintaining asylum space and CSO space in forced displacement and statelessness in Tanzania on the one hand, and enhancing awareness and perception of refugees and statelessness in Tanzania on the other hand.<\/p>\n

Ms Ruhundwa has led DIGNITY Kwanza\u2019s collaboration on significant research initiatives with prestigious universities and global think tanks such as TRAFIG, LERRN and the Humanitarian Policy Group of the Oversees Development Institute. She has also published a number of papers on forced displacement and participated in different regional and global forums on forced displacement and statelessness to share experiences from Tanzania.
\nMs Ruhundwa is a lawyer with an LL. B and LL. M from the University of Dar es Salaam and advocate of the High Court of Tanzania.<\/p>\n
