{"id":4134,"date":"2021-10-06T16:39:22","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T20:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/?post_type=cu-people&#038;p=4134"},"modified":"2022-09-12T10:59:29","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:59:29","slug":"elena-fiddian-qasmiyeh","status":"publish","type":"cu-people","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/people\/elena-fiddian-qasmiyeh\/","title":{"rendered":"Elena Fiddian-Qasmiyeh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Elena Fiddian-Qasmiyeh<\/strong> is Professor of Migration and Refugee Studies at University College London, where she is Co-Director of UCL&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.geog.ucl.ac.uk\/people\/academic-staff\/mru\/\">Migration Research Unit<\/a>, Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies\u2019\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/institute-of-advanced-studies\/research\">Refuge in a Moving World<\/a>\u00a0research network across UCL (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RefugeMvingWrld\">@RefugeMvingWrld<\/a>), and co-Editor of the <em>Migration and Society<\/em> journal. Elena\u2019s\u00a0research is interdisciplinary and participatory in nature, and draws on critical theoretical perspectives, including feminist and Southern theories and approaches. Since the early-2000s, her work has focused on better understanding experiences of and responses to displacement in and from the Middle East and North Africa.
