Stephanie L\u00f3pez Villamil is South America Project Lead Researcher for the project “The Politics and Process of Refugee Leadership: A Comparative Analysis of Factors Conditioning Refugee Leadership in Global South”. The research study funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n

Stephanie has over a decade of experience in research, policy advice, advocacy, and consulting activities related to migration policies, migrants and refugee rights, forced migration, refugees, and migration governance. Her research is focused in South America, with an emphasis on Colombia where she has made major contributions to projects involving public policy design and institutional capacity-building. She has collaborated on different projects with USAID, the Center for Global Development, Refugees International, the Inter-American Development Bank, and governmental bodies among others. She is an active volunteer with local refugee-led organizations to provide capacity building and ensure their voices are heard by government officials. Through her advocacy work, she provides strategic advice to R-SEAT to support refugee participation in decision-making in Latin America.<\/p>\n
