Somali refugee and researcher based in Nairobi, Kenya, with lived experience of displacement. He spent over two decades in Kakuma refugee camp, where he was elected as a zonal chairperson to represent the needs and interests of fellow refugees. In his leadership role, Mohamed has been a strong advocate for refugee rights and inclusion, speaking at several international conferences, including co-chairing the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos in 2019. He was also the first refugee to work as a UN Volunteer in East and Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n
Mohamed is a research officer at the Refugee-Led Research Hub. His research interests focus on the evolution of identity in protracted displacement, intergenerational displacement, and refugee governance.
