An important development in refugee and forced migration research, policy, and practice in recent years has been the increased recognition that refugee-led initiatives and organizations (RLOs) play a vital role in meeting community needs. However, there is a very limited understanding of the various forms RLOs can take, how refugee communities perceive them, and the factors that condition their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us on Thursday, 29 September 2022<\/strong>, as we launch the results of an innovative research project<\/a> that seeks to fill this gap by examining the impact of refugee-led organizations in urban and camp\/settlement sites across Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Led by researchers with lived experiences of displacement from start to finish, and supported by a consortium of partners including the International Development Research Centre<\/a> (IDRC), the Open Society Foundations<\/a> (OSF), and Robert Bosch Stiftung<\/a>, this research provides timely and surprising insight on the factors that enable and constrain the work of RLOs.<\/p>\n\n\n
