Dr. Fouad, a general surgeon by training, is an Associate Professor of Public Health Practice at the Faculty of Health and Sciences at AUB and Co-Director of the Refugee Health Program at Global Health Institute. His current research focuses on the forced displaced population with a special interest in the Syrian refugee crisis, as well as the impact of this crisis on the health and the well-being of the Syrian population. Fouad has extensive research work on health workforces in humanitarian settings and the weaponization of healthcare in armed conflicts.
\nDr. Fouad is also Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on several projects related to health in protracted and armed conflicts. He served as a commissioner in two Lancet Commissions: the AUB-Lancet Commission on Syria and the crises in global governance, health, and aid and the UCL-Lancet Commission on Migration and Health. Dr. Fouad is the author of more than 80 articles, Op-eds, and reports published in top journals including the Lancet, PloS, BMJ, Conflict and Health, SS&M, and NYT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Fouad, chirurgien g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de formation, est professeur associ\u00e9 de pratique de sant\u00e9 publique \u00e0 la facult\u00e9 de sant\u00e9 et de sciences de l\u2019AUB et codirecteur du programme de sant\u00e9 des r\u00e9fugi\u00e9.es au \u00ab\u2009Global Health Institute.\u2009\u00bb Ses recherches actuelles portent sur les populations d\u00e9plac\u00e9es de force, avec un int\u00e9r\u00eat particulier pour la crise des r\u00e9fugi\u00e9.es syriens, ainsi que sur l\u2019impact de cette crise sur la sant\u00e9 et le bien-\u00eatre de la population syrienne. Fouad a men\u00e9 des recherches approfondies sur les personnels de sant\u00e9 dans les contextes humanitaires et sur la militarisation des soins de sant\u00e9 dans les conflits arm\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Fouad est \u00e9galement chercheur principal et cochercheur sur plusieurs projets li\u00e9s \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 dans les conflits prolong\u00e9s et arm\u00e9s. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 membre de deux commissions du Lancet : la commission AUB-Lancet sur la Syrie et les crises dans la gouvernance mondiale, la sant\u00e9 et l\u2019aide et la commission UCL-Lancet sur la migration et la sant\u00e9. Dr Fouad est l\u2019auteur de plus de 80 articles, lettres d\u2019opinion et rapports publi\u00e9s dans des revues de premier plan, dont le Lancet, PloS, BMJ, Conflict and Health, SS&M et NYT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
