\n LERRN Stands in Solidarity with our Partners in Lebanon\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

On August 19, the <\/span>Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies<\/span><\/a> hosted a webinar on the causes and impact of the Beirut explosions, which included valuable inputs from Dr. <\/span>Maha Shuayb<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>LERRN partner and Director of the <\/span>Centre for Lebanese Studies<\/span><\/a>, as well as <\/span>Dr. Ziad Abu-Rish<\/span><\/a> of Bard College. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LERRN stands in solidarity with everyone affected by the explosion at the Beirut Port on Tuesday 4 August 2020, including our partners at the Centre for Lebanese Studies<\/span>.<\/span> It is a terrible tragedy, coming at a time when Lebanon has been struggling with profound economic and social challenges, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our thoughts are with the people of Lebanon and members of the LERRN community in Beirut. We wish your families and friends strength in these very trying times.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support from the international community plays an integral role in the pathway to recovery. Humanitarian organizations are assisting people on the ground in Beirut with basic needs, such as health care, food, water, and shelter. Every donation will make a difference and support where it is needed most. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Canadian government announced last week that it would match every donation made by individual Canadians to a coalition of humanitarian organizations to help Lebanon in the aftermath of this deadly explosion.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
