On April 20, 2020, LERRN Partners James Milner<\/a> and Roula El-Rifai<\/a> participated in the April edition of the Refugee Research Network<\/a> Webinar Series entitled Localizing Knowledge Production: Shifting Power in Forced Migration Studies.<\/p>\n

Drawing on the results of a review of forced displacement research centres based in the global South and interviews with the directors of these centres, this webinar encourages a shift from focusing on research partnerships to an approach that supports the localization of knowledge production in refugee and forced migration studies. The speakers invited us to consider an approach that changes the structures of knowledge production through tackling issues such as funding management of Global South-led research, transfer of power to researchers in the South, a recognition of the diverse forms of knowledge and knowledge production, and an appreciation for the diverse understandings of success and impact across contexts.<\/p>\n
