{"id":7950,"date":"2023-12-18T09:47:17","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T14:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/?p=7950"},"modified":"2026-04-07T12:02:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T16:02:28","slug":"global-refugee-forum-2023-brief-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/2023\/global-refugee-forum-2023-brief-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Global Refugee Forum 2023: Brief Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, LERRN partners attended the Global Refugee Forum 2023, which will steer the course of the refugee regime&#8217;s agenda for the upcoming four-year period.<\/p>\n<p>LERRN was part of three linked events that were available in-person in Geneva and also online to all the attendants around the globe:<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7945 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-240x339.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-240x339.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-400x565.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-160x226.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-768x1086.jpg 768w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-360x509.jpg 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December-200x283.jpg 200w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flyer-Academic-Workshop_11th-December.jpg 827w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The workshop, titled\u00a0\u201cEvidence-based implementation of the GCR: What role for academia?\u201d had a focus on Academia, and aimed to deepen the discussion on this key engagement of Academia with GCR.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/lerrn\/cu-events\/promoting-evidence-based-implementation-of-the-gcr-through-teaching-research-and-solidarity\/\">Promoting evidence-based implementation of the Global Compact on Refugees through teaching, research, and solidarity<\/a>&#8221; provided a comprehensive discussion on how academia can better engage with refugee protection and solutions.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Collaborating with academic partners to advance refugee-led advocacy: Tips, tricks and networks&#8221; explored the experience of research collaborations between RLOs and academics.
