\n After the Forum: New Directions in Global Refugee Policy\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

After more than 2,000 people met in Geneva for the first <\/span>Global Refugee Forum<\/span><\/a>, our partner and Co-applicant Dr. Jeff Crisp of the Refugee Studies Centre, shared his reflection on the international community\u2019s future response to the refugee flow. Dr. Crisp predicts there will be a \u201ccontinuation of the exclusionary refugee policies currently pursued by many of the world\u2019s most prosperous countries.\u201d But on the other hand, in the Global South where 85% of the world\u2019s refugees are to be found, \u201cthere will be a much stronger focus on market-oriented approaches to self-reliance, host community support and social inclusion, facilitated by the greater involvement of development actors and the private sector.\u201d <\/span>Read more about his reflections<\/span> here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To further learn about next steps after the Forum, join our roundtable discussion on Thursday Jan 30. We will share insights from the Global Refugee Forum and ideas on how to support refugee participation in all aspects of refugee research, policy and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers will include Mustafa Alio, a refugee advisor, was included as a formal member of the Canadian delegation, as well as Muzna Dureid, Syrian Refugee and Founder of Women Refugees Not Captives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
