SUMMARY:LLeaP Cares: Winter Clothing and Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:This December we’re coming together to support Carleton students in need with a clothing and food drive! We will be partnering with the Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program and the Unified Support Centre (USC) at Carleton to help provide students in need with the resources they need to be able to focus on their studies.

TIM Program Winter Clothing Drive:

Help Carleton students stay warm this winter by donating gently used winter clothing to those in the Technology Innovation Management (TIM) program. Many TIM students are new to Canada and could greatly benefit from coats, scarves, gloves, and other winter essentials. Your donations will provide comfort and ease for students navigating the cold season for the first time—thank you for making a difference in their experience!

We are looking to collect gently used gloves, scarves, hats, mittens, earmuffs, winter coats, and boots for the students in the TIM program. Please note that we are unable to receive other household goods and items at this time.

USC Food Drive:

The Unified Support Centre supports students experiencing food scarcity through their Emergency Essentials Assistance Program. Since 2018, the USC has seen requests for hampers jump over 500%, with the average cost of a single food hamper increasing to 32$. From 2022-2023, over 5000 Carleton students accessed the Emergency Essentials Assistance Program and the need continues to grow.

The USC is constantly in need of the following non-perishable items:

Canned Soups (non-vegetarian & vegetarian)

Broth (non-vegetarian & vegetarian)

Canned Beans (both baked beans and unseasoned)

Canned Chilli

Pasta Sauce

Dry Lentils or Beans

Rice

Pasta

Canned Vegetables

Toothpaste

Toothbrushes

Shampoo

Floss

Pads

Please note that they are unable to accept the following items due to food safety concerns and allergy risks:

Unsealed perishable donations (i.e. a takeout contained from a restaurant)

Chilled items that have been stored at room temperature

Expired perishable food and essentials

Expired non-perishable items that are more than one (1) month past their date of expiration
