Click on the headings below for more details on these important topics:
- ADVICE FOR SUCCESSFUL REGISTRATIONS:
-
- Requests for registration before the designated days cannot be considered. Each offering will have its OWN registration form, and you will be prompted to pay immediately using our secure online payment page. We cannot accept cheques during the pandemic. Links to these registration forms plus additional registration details will be posted on this page.
- Each registration form will require registrants to review and agree to LinR policies, including about withdrawals and refunds. In order to fill out your form more quickly, you may like to review these policies ahead of time.
- You can only register one person per form. Should you wish to register with a partner or friend, an additional form must be submitted.
- The form will automatically shift to a waiting list form once the allotted ‘seats’ have been filled. We will draw from this list if spots are released or increased, or if we offer a repeat session.
- RECORDINGS, ONLINE ENROLLMENT CAPS AND OTHER NEW TERRITORY:
-
- OUR OFFERINGS ARE LIVE EVENTS; PLEASE BE SURE YOU CAN ATTEND AT THE SPECIFIED TIMES. We may make and use recordings as a backup in case of technology problems. However, at the moment we do not share recordings, in part out of copyright and intellectual property concerns. Our approach may change in the future when we have a more secure place to store and stream recordings.
- We have raised enrollment caps after testing lower limits in our first offerings. We ask for your best efforts to test your equipment and Zoom software when prompted. We want you to have the smoothest experience possible!
- PREPARING YOURSELF FOR USING ZOOM:
-
- Get started with Zoom using our instructions: https://carleton.ca/linr/support/. This page now includes two short new videos about using Zoom features in LinR classes, and about installing the Zoom software.
- We strongly recommend that you test your internet connection, camera, microphone, and settings by joining a Zoom test meeting, https://zoom.us/test. You will be the only person in this meeting, and it is used for the sole purpose of testing your equipment. Because for some users, Zoom updates regularly, and because devices such as iPads act differently from computer desktop versions, ideally you should do a quick zoom test (https://zoom.us/test) before joining each event’s meeting. If you would like to check if your Zoom software is up to date, or if you want to set it up to update automatically, here are the instructions.”
- When we have a Zoom training session scheduled, it will be posted on the support page. These training sessions are designed to help you make the most of Zoom’s web conferencing software, and test your equipment.
- Connected Canadians offers free one-on-one technical training and support for older adults, by appointment. If you need individualised help with Zoom or other tools, or want to learn more about how to use technology to connect to virtual programs like online support groups, learning events, and social programs, call 613-699-7896 or sign up for help at https://www.connectedcanadians.ca/programs. Outside of the Ottawa area, 1-877-304-5813 (toll free). We recommend that you do so before classes begin.
