Bonjour! My name is&nbsp;Agusta&nbsp;Caetano-Pav\u00e3o, I am in my third year of studying&nbsp;French&nbsp;here at Carleton, and I am really excited to be participating in Linguavision again! The song I am performing this year is the&nbsp;French translation of one of my favourite childhood songs \u201cOut there\u201d from Disney\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Hunchback of Notre dame<\/em>, or \u201cRien qu&#8217;un jour\u201d as it would be called. In all honesty, my goal was to choose a song that was recognizable and perform it in a way that won\u2019t be.&nbsp;It is a great song with a great message of getting out of one&#8217;s comfort zone and seizing the day. My name is&nbsp;Rahnesse&nbsp;and I am a third-year psych student, I&#8217;ve been learning French for most of my life, but I feel like I don&#8217;t use it that often and am not really confident in my speaking skills. I entered this competition to get out of my comfort zone and try something new by putting myself out there. I wasn&#8217;t going to do it at first because I was scared but I want to push past my fears and challenge myself. As a Christian I let my faith inform my song choice and this song is one of my favourite French worship songs. I&#8217;ve also been going through a lot and I really see how God has been there for me, so I really wanted to sing something meaningful to me personally, and something that might encourage someone. The whole song is about how important it is to praise God and how just thinking about His Holiness is reason to praise Jesus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think French is such a passionate language and there&#8217;s something about singing in French that just hits different and when I discovered French worship, it helped me make my language skills more meaningful and personal. I\u2019ve been interested in Japanese for a while and initially started learning it because I love anime and wanted to voice act (big dreams I know), but I fell in love with J-pop and haven\u2019t turned back since. The song heavily reminds me of summer 2023, where my friends and I would practice volleyball almost daily, and enjoy our youth together (as the song, and the plot of the anime also suggest).
