Korea is also home to a rich cultural heritage and a world-leading technology sector producing everything from vehicles and semiconductors to cutting-edge robotics. Here in Canada, we see Korean products on our roads, in our kitchens, and on cosmetics shelves across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such innovation is no accident. It reflects a longstanding commitment to education, scholarship, and lifelong learning, and a desire to share this commitment with a global audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past several years, students at Carleton have benefited directly from this commitment through support from the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS), a research and educational institute established by the South Korean government to advance Korean studies worldwide. With funding from AKS, our team of Korean instructors has been able to bring in guest speakers, organize speech contests, and celebrate important cultural events such as Hangeul Day.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And for some students this will be enough, but for others who have developed an interest in Korea (like <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/slals\/2026\/korean-language-minor-opens-doors-to-epik-adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rachel Share<\/a> who headed off to Korea earlier this month), their Korean journey does not have to end in the Carleton classroom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to funding events, AKS also funds graduate programs in Korean Studies through their campus affiliate, <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.aks.ac.kr\/com\/cmm\/EgovContentView.do?menuNo=1010130000&amp;lang=eng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Graduate School of Korean Studies<\/a>, located in Seongnam, a city of almost one million just south of Seoul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Programs include Korean Literature, Korean Linguistics,
