STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0Statement of commitment to linguistic inclusion and equity\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u200bThe Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning conference (\u201cLPP\u201d) must always be an equitable and inclusive space. To that end, the organizers welcome the use of all languages and language varieties irrespective of modality and\/or whether or not said languages are officially recognized. Furthermore, the organizers commit to adhering to this policy at this and all future LPP conferences.<\/p>\n

\nLPP brings together scholars to discuss and share work related to language policy and planning, understood in the widest possible terms. These scholars represent a wide range of disciplinary and linguistic backgrounds. The conference organizers will therefore do everything in their power to facilitate the participation of conference attendees from every possible language background in the language(s) of their choice. This may include, but is not restricted to, encouraging presentations in any language, providing interpreters between languages, and creating social networking spaces conducive to the use of many languages.<\/p>\n

\nThe above principles are to be understood as non-exclusive. It is incumbent upon current and future LPP organizers to stimulate discussion of these principles among LPP supporters. We seek input from LPP participants across a diverse range of points of view in order that we may further refine and improve this statement. We cannot do this without the participation of our valued community. Together, we hope to create a\u00a0set of principles that we ourselves adhere to and that may serve as an example for others who hope to create linguistically inclusive and equitable spaces.<\/p>\n

\u200bLa Conf\u00e9rence sur les approches multidisciplinaires de la planification et des politiques linguistiques (\u00ab PPL \u00bb) se doit d\u2019\u00eatre un espace \u00e9quitable et inclusif. \u00c0 cette fin, les organisateurs accueillent favorablement l’utilisation de toutes les langues et vari\u00e9t\u00e9s de langues ind\u00e9pendamment de la modalit\u00e9 et\/ou du fait que ces langues soient officiellement reconnues ou non. La conferencia Enfoques multidisciplinares en pol\u00edtica y planificaci\u00f3n ling\u00fc\u00edsticas<\/strong> (\u201cPPL\u201d) se establece como un espacio equitativo e inclusivo. Con este prop\u00f3sito, los organizadores promueven el uso de todas las lenguas y variedades ling\u00fc\u00edsticas, sin importar su modalidad o si dichas lenguas est\u00e1n oficialmente reconocidas o no. Asimismo, los organizadores se comprometen a respetar esta pol\u00edtica en la presente y en todas las futuras conferencias de la PPL.<\/p>\n

La PPL re\u00fane a acad\u00e9micos para debatir y compartir trabajos relacionados con la pol\u00edtica y la planificaci\u00f3n ling\u00fc\u00edsticas, entendidas en su sentido m\u00e1s amplio. Las y los participantes representan una amplia gama de disciplinas y lenguas. Por lo tanto, los organizadores de la conferencia se comprometen a hacer todo lo posible para facilitar la participaci\u00f3n de todas las procedencias ling\u00fc\u00edsticas en la lengua o lenguas de su elecci\u00f3n. Esto puede incluir, entre otras medidas, fomentar las presentaciones en cualquier idioma, proporcionar servicios de interpretaci\u00f3n entre idiomas y crear espacios en las redes sociales que fomenten el uso de diversas lenguas.<\/p>\n

Los principios anteriores se consideran no excluyentes. Tanto los organizadores actuales como los futuros de la PPL tienen la responsabilidad de fomentar el debate sobre estos principios entre aquellos que apoyan y asisten a la conferencia. Solicitamos la colaboraci\u00f3n de los participantes de la PPL desde diversas perspectivas con el fin de perfeccionar y mejorar esta propuesta.
