Capital Advantage & Career Opportunities<\/h3>\n

At Carleton, there are unparalleled opportunities to collaborate. As a principal sponsorsing member of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, our students participate in lectures sponsored by the Institute, including the Fields-Carleton Distinguished Lecture Series.<\/p>\n

Our graduate students enjoy the advantage of studying in the nation\u2019s capital, which provides easy access to paid internships in government departments and private industry. Internships have been held at Alludo (formerly known as Corel), Health Canada, the Loeb Research Institute, Canadian Border Services Agency, the Canadian Institute of Health Information, among others. Placements are competitive and not guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Our alumni are leaders, pursuing successful careers with most of the above organizations, and elsewhere.<\/p>\n

A student\u2019s graduate advisor will assess if an internship should be part of your programme of studies and will provide suggestions for placements.<\/p>\n

Co-op salaries are determined by years of education and experience.<\/p>\n

Note: Co-op placements are competitive and not guaranteed.<\/p>\n

STAT 5904 [0.5 credit]<\/a>
\nStatistical Internship
\n<\/strong>This project-oriented course allows students to undertake statistical research and data analysis projects as a cooperative project with governmental or industrial sponsors. Practical data analysis and consulting skills will be emphasized. The grade will be based upon oral and written presentation of results.
\nPrerequisite: permission of the Graduate Director.<\/p>\n

MATH 5906 (MAT 5993)<\/a>
\n<\/a>Research Internship
\n<\/strong>This course affords students the opportunity to undertake research in mathematics as a cooperative project with governmental or industrial sponsors. The grade will be based upon the mathematical content and upon oral and written presentation of results.
\nPrerequisite: permission of the Graduate Director.<\/p>\n
