This course is rather different\u00a0from\u00a0High School Calculus\u00a0and will be more challenging.\u00a0High School Calculus will teach you &#8220;how to drive a car,&#8221; here you will learn &#8220;what&#8217;s under the hood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Students who successfully complete &#8220;Foundations of Calculus&#8221; course and subsequently enroll into an undergraduate program at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Carleton University, are offered <em>&#8220;Mathematics for Success!&#8221;<\/em> award, valued at $500.<\/p>\n<p>The course will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solving inequalities<\/li>\n<li>Absolute value and its properties<\/li>\n<li>Plotting graphs of functions<\/li>\n<li>Real Numbers. Dedekind cuts<\/li>\n<li>Infinite sequences<\/li>\n<li>Limit of a sequence<\/li>\n<li>Properties of limits<\/li>\n<li>Infinite series<\/li>\n<li>Convergent and divergent series<\/li>\n<li>Limits of functions<\/li>\n<li>Continuity<\/li>\n<li>Derivative<\/li>\n<li>Rules of differentiation<\/li>\n<li>Derivatives of trigonometric and exponential functions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These topics will be covered in-depth with the emphasis on rigorous definitions and proofs.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4>2026\/27 Course Information<\/h4>\n<p>This course will run on <strong>Wednesdays 5:30-7:00pm<\/strong> from September 23, 2026 to April 2027 (with a break in December).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Ailith Priddle<\/strong> (&#x41;&#x69;&#x6c;&#x69;&#x74;&#x68;&#x50;&#114;&#105;&#100;&#100;&#108;e&#64;cm&#x61;&#x69;&#x6c;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;&#x72;&#x6c;&#101;&#116;&#111;&#110;&#46;ca)<\/p>\n<p><!---<strong>Class Location:\u00a0\u00a0 Canal Building, Room 2202.<\/strong>---><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Maximum enrollment is 40 students per class.
