We will see how to use the axioms of Euclid in order to create rigorous proofs in Geometry. This rigorous and logical approach is the best preparation for the future study of Computer Science.

This course will be assignment-based. Each Thursday we will post a pre-recorded lecture and an assignment with 4 challenging problems. A key element of this course is one-on-one meetings with the Teaching Assistants, who are Carleton University Math Honours students. Each student in this course will book each week (Friday to Monday) an individual time slot, at a time convenient for you, for a 20-minute one-on-one discussion with a Teaching Assistant. The purpose of this meeting is to review the progress on the home assignment and get help with any difficulties. There is also an alternative option to book a 40-minute time slot with 2 students. After the meeting with a Teaching Assistant, students will complete home assignments, which will be submitted the following Thursday for marking.

In this course we will use Geogebra platform for computer geometry.

For Ottawa students we recommend taking “Fundamentals of Geometry I”.

2025/26 Course Information

The course will run online from September 25th, 2025 to April 2026 asynchronously (with a break in December).

Instructor: Yuly Billig billig@math.carleton.ca

2026/27 Course Information

The course will run online from September 24th, 2026 to April 2027 asynchronously (with a break in December).

Instructor: Yuly Billig billig@math.carleton.ca

Registration Information
<!--- Registration for the 2025–2026 academic year is now closed.
