Once the assignment has been finalized, you will also be able to check Carleton Central for your offer. Priority Graduate TAs can find this in Carleton Central by clicking the \u201cGraduate TA Management System\u201d link found under the Student Support Services menu. Outside Priority TAs can find this in Carleton Central by clicking the \u201cTA Outside Priority Applications\u201d link under the TA Management menu.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-who-is-eligible-to-receive-ta-positions-in-the-fall-winter-term\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-who-is-eligible-to-receive-ta-positions-in-the-fall-winter-term\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Who is eligible to receive TA positions in the fall\/winter term?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-who-is-eligible-to-receive-ta-positions-in-the-fall-winter-term\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully-funded Priority graduate students in Math and Stats<\/li>\n<li>Full-time graduate students in any department who do not have a priority TA<\/li>\n<li>Full- or part-time undergraduate students in any department, who are in 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year or higher with a CGPA greater than 9.0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-can-my-assignment-be-cancelled\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-can-my-assignment-be-cancelled\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Can my assignment be cancelled?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-can-my-assignment-be-cancelled\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\nYes, the School reserves the right to cancel any course tutorial section or replace or reassign teaching assistants for any reason, at any time prior to the third scheduled class, in which case your \u201cAssignment of Duties\u201d contract is thereby ended.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-if-i-do-not-receive-an-assignment\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-if-i-do-not-receive-an-assignment\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What if I do not receive an assignment?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-if-i-do-not-receive-an-assignment\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\nThere is no need to contact the School, your application will be kept on file and you may be selected if the schedule is revised. Please continue to check the online TA assignment list daily for revisions.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-how-and-when-will-i-be-paid\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-how-and-when-will-i-be-paid\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">How and when will I be paid?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-how-and-when-will-i-be-paid\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of your contract, you will have to provide documentation to HR. Payments will be made by direct deposit to your bank account. You can check the pay dates <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/hr\/payroll\/your-pay-information\/pay-dates\/\">here<\/a>. Your first pay cheque or the term will be on the last pay date in September for the Fall term, January for the Winter term, and May for the Summer term.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-how-many-hours-will-i-be-assigned\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-how-many-hours-will-i-be-assigned\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">How many hours will I be assigned?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-how-many-hours-will-i-be-assigned\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\nTutorials are typically 55 hours of work, and labs are typically 32.5 hours of work. In total, a TA can only be assigned a maximum of 130 hours in a term which works out to approximately 10 hours a week.<br \/>\n<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-will-my-duties-be\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-will-my-duties-be\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What will my duties be?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-will-my-duties-be\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\nUnder the supervision of the course instructor (faculty or contract instructor ), you may be assigned duties related to marking, tutorial attendance and participation, office hours and similar duties depending on your particular assignment.<br \/>\n<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-are-my-responsibilities-as-a-ta\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-are-my-responsibilities-as-a-ta\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What are my responsibilities as a TA?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-are-my-responsibilities-as-a-ta\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep in touch with your course instructor during the term.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your instructor has your email address and telephone number.<\/li>\n<li>Be on time for all meetings with your instructor.<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared for and attend your assigned tutorial section and office hours.<\/li>\n<li>Promptly return marked assignments as required by the instructor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-will-there-be-a-ta-orientation-meeting\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-will-there-be-a-ta-orientation-meeting\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Will there be a TA orientation meeting?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-will-there-be-a-ta-orientation-meeting\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\nAn orientation will be held for new TAs in the beginning of September during orientation week.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-if-i-cannot-attend-one-of-my-tutorial-classes\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-if-i-cannot-attend-one-of-my-tutorial-classes\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What if I cannot attend one of my tutorial classes?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-if-i-cannot-attend-one-of-my-tutorial-classes\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>You must contact your instructor as soon as you are made aware that you won\u2019t be able to attend your scheduled tutorial. If you are unable to contact your instructor, please e-mail the Math and Stats TA Coordinator Matt Paslawski at <a href=\"mailto:mattpaslawski&#64;cun&#101;&#116;&#46;&#99;&#97;&#114;&#108;&#101;&#116;&#111;&#110;&#46;&#99;&#97;\">matt&#112;&#97;&#115;&#108;&#97;&#x77;&#x73;&#x6b;&#x69;&#x40;&#x63;&#x75;net&#46;&#99;&#97;&#114;&#108;&#101;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x6e;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;<\/a>. Graduate TAs can hold their office hours in the PhD Student offices, HP4250, HP4260 and HP4270.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-will-i-receive-an-evaluation\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-will-i-receive-an-evaluation\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Will I receive an evaluation?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-will-i-receive-an-evaluation\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Once per academic year the TA Coordinator will sit in on a tutorial and observe your teaching.
