It may be regarded as a game played by axiomatic rules created by the ancient Greeks. However, this classical part of mathematics is practically nonexistent as a subject in the curriculum of Canadian schools.<\/p>\n<p>The School of Mathematics and Statistics at Carleton University offers a non-credit enrichment course for students in grade 7-8.<\/p>\n<p>We propose to cover the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parallelism, Congruency and Similarity Properties of the Triangle (including median, perpendicular bisector, angle bisector, altitude, and their respective intersections)<\/li>\n<li>Pythagorean Theorem and related problems<\/li>\n<li>The Circle (including the power of a point with respect to a circle)<\/li>\n<li>Quadrilaterals<\/li>\n<li>Area relationships<\/li>\n<li>Geometric Constructions (some problems about Geometric Loci)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These topics will be covered in-depth and are not related to the Ontario Elementary or Secondary School Curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>Fundamentals of Geometry I is a required course for admission to Fundamentals of Geometry II and Competitive Math II.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4><strong>2025\/26 Course Information<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The course will run in person from <strong>September 25,<\/strong> 2025 to May 2026 on <strong>Thursdays 6:00-7:30 pm<\/strong>. Registration for this free test is required (deadline: August 31).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To succeed at the Admission Test for Fundamentals of Geometry I, students are expected to have strong knowledge of mathematics at grade 6 level. To ensure equal opportunities for all students, we do not release any further details about this test.<\/p>\n<p>We reserve the right to cancel this course with a full refund if a minimum enrollment is not reached.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!---Registration for the 2025\u20132026 academic year is now closed.
