Competitive Math Program – Part I – Grade 9 <\/span>(In-person)<\/span><\/h4>\n

Exceptional Grade 7\u20138 students who pass the Admission Test will be accepted into the program.<\/p>\n

The following topics will be covered: Number Theory and Analytic Geometry. These serve as the foundations for participating in mathematical competitions such as the COMC and AMC 10.<\/p>\n

In order to advance to the Competitive Math Program \u2013 Part II, students must also complete Fundamentals of Geometry Part I and Part II.<\/p>\n

2025\/2026 Course Information<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The course will run in person from September 23rd,<\/strong> 2025 to April 2026 on Tuedays 6:00-7:30 pm<\/strong>. (Break in December) in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, MacPhail Seminar Room, Room 4351 Herzberg Laboratories Building.<\/p>\n

Course Instructor: Dr. Dragos Calitoiu<\/strong> \u00a0competitive_math@math.carleton.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This course will include approximately 12 (marked) assignments, two tests, and one final exam.<\/p>\n

2026\/2027 Course Information<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The course will run in person from September 22nd,<\/strong> 2026 to April 2027 on Tuedays 5:30-7:00 pm<\/strong>. (Break in December) in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, MacPhail Seminar Room, Room 4351 Herzberg Laboratories Building.<\/p>\n

There will be a free Admission Test<\/strong> for this course held on Saturday September 12<\/strong>, 2026 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at Carleton University(Exact location will be announced before Aug 31st, 2026)<\/strong>. Registration for this free test is required (deadline: August 31).<\/p>\n

To succeed at the Admission Test, students are expected to know how to solve systems of equations, in addition to having a strong knowledge of mathematics at the grade 8 level. To ensure equal opportunities for all students, we do not release any further details about this test.<\/p>\n

We reserve the right to cancel this course with a full refund if a minimum enrollment is not reached.<\/p>\n

Registration fee: $630.<\/p>\n

Please register for the (free) Admission Test before August 31, 2026. Location of the Test will be emailed to those registered 1 week prior to the Test.<\/p>\n
