{"id":658,"date":"2023-10-14T19:10:14","date_gmt":"2023-10-14T23:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/mathlab\/?page_id=658"},"modified":"2023-10-14T19:14:49","modified_gmt":"2023-10-14T23:14:49","slug":"black-white-stroop-app","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/mathlab\/experiment-apps\/black-white-stroop-app\/","title":{"rendered":"Black\/White Stroop App"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>black\/white Stroop app<\/strong>, adapted from Vendetti, Kamawar, Podjarny, and Astle (2015), can be\u00a0used to measure children\u2019s inhibitory control skills. In this task, a fixation cross appears in the center of the screen for 500 ms, follows 500 ms later by a stimulus (black square or white square) for 3 seconds. Participants\u00a0will be asked to touch the square that is\u00a0the same or different from the color name they hear as quickly as possible. Half of the trials are congruent trials (e.g., if participants hear \u201cwhite\u201d, they should press the \u201cwhite\u201d square), whereas the other half of the trials are incongruent trials (e.g., if participants hear \u201cwhite\u201d, they should press the \u201cblack\u201d square). There are\u00a0four blocks of trials altogether &#8211; two blocks of congruent trials and two blocks of incongruent trials. Participants\u00a0receive one practice trial for each block of the trials where feedback will be given to ensure that they understand the instructions.
