Registering for Math Matters

You can register for Math Matters through Carleton Central when your time ticket opens, starting June 6.

Math Matters has been divided into two sections by residence option: Math Matters (NO RESIDENCE) in section and Math Matters (WITH RESIDENCE) in section B. Students should register in the section that corresponds with whether or not they would like to stay in residence during the duration of the Math Matters program.

If you register for Math Matters section A (NO RESIDENCE), the $250 Math Matters fee will automatically appear on your student account. If you register for Math Matters section B (WITH RESIDENCE), the $250 Math Matters fee and the $646.91 residence fee will automatically appear on your student account. The last day to withdraw from the Math Matters program with a full refund is August 16th. While students may register up until August 16th at noon, registrations after August 16th will be non-refundable. Find out more about fee payments.

All registered students will receive a confirmation email to their Carleton email account on August 18 with additional information about class locations.

How to Register for Math Matters

You may plan your schedule (compose a draft timetable or worksheet) before your time ticket opens to simplify the process. Once your time ticket opens, you can then recall the draft, Proceed to Registration and then Submit. Here is a step by step guide on how to register for Math Matters:

  1. Log onto Carleton Central using either your MyCarleton1 username and password OR your Student Number and PIN.
  2. Scroll down to Registration and select Build your TimeTable/Registration.
  3. Select the term, Fall 2017 (September to December).
  4. From here, there are a couple different ways to find the course you are looking for. The easiest way to find and register for Math Matters is to scroll down to where it says Search by CRN. Here, enter either 33582 if you are registering for Math Matters (NO RESIDENCE) and 33583 if you are registering for Math Matters (WITH RESIDENCE).
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Search.
  6. To select this course, click the small box under Select. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and Proceed to Worksheet.
  7. You should now see a course called MATH 0999 A (NO RESIDENCE) or MATH 0999 B (WITH RESIDENCE). Register for only one of the two options.
  8. Once your time ticket is open, you will be able to click Proceed to Registration and then to Submit your choices.

De-Registering for Math Matters

If you have completed registration for Math Matters and choose to withdraw, you must do so by August 16th to avoid incurring the non-refundable course fee.

  1. Log onto Carleton Central using either your MyCarleton1 username and password OR your Student Number and PIN.
  2. Scroll down to Registration and select Add/Drop/Search classes.
  3. Select the term, Fall 2017 (September to December).
  4. Click Submit.
  5. From your list of courses, find MATH 0999A if you applied for Math Matters (NO RESIDENCE) or MATH 0999B if you applied for Math Matters (WITH RESIDENCE).
  6. Select the Withdraw W FEE Reassessment option under the Action drop down menu. If it is past August 16th, the option will show as Withdraw NO FEE Reassessment and the non-refundable cost will be charged to your account.
  7. Select Submit Changes.
