On November 4th, the Migration and Diaspora Studies (MDS) initiative hosted its annual Welcome Event at Carleton University Art Gallery.

Daniel McNeil (History) welcomed new and returning faculty and students to the event and shared a presentation from Johnny Alam, President of the Migration and Diaspora Student Society.

Sarah Casteel (English Language and Literature) introduced new faculty and postdocs, and Jeff Sahadeo (Political Science) introduced Faizal Forrester (English Language and Literature), the new TD Fellow in Migration and Diaspora Studies, who read from his latest poetry collection.

Daiva Stasiulis (Sociology & Anthropology) presented a brief recap of the International Symposium on Migration and Intersectionality, James Milner (Political Science) discussed how the MDS community can move forward, and William Felepchuk (Indigenous & Canadian Studies) provided a brief overview of the Postcolonial/Decolonial  Reading Group and its upcoming events.
