Humanizing Migration: Rights, Refuge, Responsibilities
The bilingual “Humanizing Migration” Forum, to be held at the University of Ottawa on June 20th (World Refugee Day) will bring together Canadian and international thought leaders from government, academia, and civil society to humanize public debate on migration to Canada.
The forum will include:
9:30-11:15 Plenary on Canada’s role in global migration movements; and “First Flashes” photography opening
11:30-1:00 Lunch
1:00-3:00 Concurrent workshops on :
- Access to education
- Environmental displacement
- Community engagement in (re)settlement and integration
- US-Canada border crossers in context of Safe Third Country Agreement
3:30-5:30 “I am Rohingya” documentary, followed by Q&A
5:30-6:30 Closing reception
The event will be free and open to the public, but registration is necessary.
