Tyler Paziuk

MA Candidate.

Tyler Paziuk is an M.A. Candidate in Political Economy and African Studies. He is particularly interested in the arguments deployed by trade unions to justify various approaches to question of noncitizen union members, and in evaluating this rhetoric against the experiences and perceptions of both citizen and noncitzen members. His interest in labour migration in southern Africa stems from a volunteer term in Lesotho in 2009 and a semester at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2013.

Currently Tyler is conducting field research in Johannesburg, South Africa for his thesis on noncitizen trade union members in a post-apartheid context of increased migration, persistent precarity, and recurrent xenophobic violence.
