Pain is often a response to injury, but can also occur in the absence of any apparent damage to the body. It can be a simple, reflexive response, but can also be a complex social and emotional experience. In this talk, I will examine how the way we define and conceptualize pain has important clinical, ethical, and political ramifications, and how psychological and neurobiological research has been used (and misused) to shape debate in these domains.

Psychology Mental Health Day A Message from Dr. Joanna Pozzulo, Director of MeWeRTH The Department of Psychology in partnership with MeWeRTH, will co-host Psychology Mental Health Day on Thurs.
