Why did you want to become a mentor?
I was a mentor last fall, and I found it a super fulfilling experience to connect and help first years manage to get through the first few weeks of post-secondary. this is my second post-secondary diploma/degree so I feel like I have a lot of knowledge and experience to share. helping students connect with others, develop good study habits, obtain their bus passes, and utilize school resources is something I am very glad to do!
What is one thing you wished you knew in your first year?
My first year of university was in 2020 covid, and I wish I knew that everyone was in the same boat as me – every student is trying to connect with others, do well in school, and have a great experience!! you are not alone in feeling alone or overwhelmed – I also wish I knew that everyone is on a different life trajectory and nobody’s academic or personal path is going to look the same as yours and that is ok!!!

my hometown is 19 hours away from Ottawa and is in the central time zone – but is still located in Ontario!!
