Why I’m a mentor:
I am a mentor because of the amazing experience I had when I was a mentee in my first year at Carleton. I came to Ottawa from Vancouver BC, not knowing anyone or very much about Carleton, but that all changed quickly because of my mentor. She made me feel so welcome and excited to be a Raven. So now as an experienced Carleton student, I want first-year students to have the opportunity to connect with a mentor and to have an amazing experience as I did.
Something I wished I knew in my first year…
I wish I knew the value of introducing myself to everyone I came in contact with. Whether you are in the same program or same club on campus, just a wave and saying your name can be the start to a meaningful friendship.
