• When and where is the next training?

The next training will start on June 22,2015 (8:30 a.m.) and will conclude on June 26, 2015 (4 p.m.). On June 27, 2015, optional cultural visits will be offered to those participants interested. The training will take place in Ottawa, Canada.

  • What topics will be covered in the training?

The training will cover 5 main topics: global trends, migration management, integration management, monitoring and evaluation and migration management for sending countries. The detailed programme is described in this section of the website.

  • How do I apply to the training?

Online applications for the next training are being accepted until June 12, 2015. Early bird tuition rates for the June 2015 session are valid until April 24, 2015. Please complete the online application by clicking here. We will contact you by email to confirm your registration and payment options so that you can finalize your travel arrangements.

  • What language do I complete my application in?

Applications can be completed in any of the official languages of Canada, i.e. English or French. As English is now the most common second language used by our international faculty, we need to rely on it to conduct the training, however. Given the complexity of topics covered during training, we estimate that you would need to have an upper-intermediate English proficiency level. As a guide, this level roughly corresponds to:

  • Cambridge ESOL Main Suite: FCE
  • Cambridge ESOL BEC: Vantage
  • IELTS: 5-6
  • TOEFL: 87-109
  • TOEIC Listening & Reading: 400-485
  • TOEIC Speaking & Writing: 155-195
  • Are there specific application requirements?

No. Any professional interested in the topics of migration and integration is encouraged to apply. However, due to the limited number of seats (25 maximum per training), applicants will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis, and a waiting list will be instituted for additional registrants. We will contact you by email after you register so that you can finalize your travel arrangements.  If you need to withdraw, please notify Metropolis staff immediately, so the next person on the list can be notified.

  • Will I require a visa to enter Canada or other countries where MPD is held?

Some participants will require visas. Please visit the website of the Canadian embassy in your country for more information or see the visa section on this website. If needed, Metropolis will send you an official letter of invitation to be used as part of your visa application. Please note that this letter of invitation does not automatically guarantee the issuance of a visa, because Consular authorities have the right to refuse the issue of a visa even though all required documentation was submitted.

  • How long will it take for my visa to get processed?

Visa processing times can vary. If you know you require a visa, please register at least a month to six weeks in advance of the training to ensure you obtain your visa on time.

  • I am a graduate student, can I participate in MPD trainings?

MPD trainings are customized to the needs of senior policy-makers and leaders from service providing organizations and businesses. However, participation from other sectors is allowed.

  • Do I receive a certificate after the pilot training?

Participants in the pilot training will receive a certificate of participation issued by Metropolis.
