Using an external Bluetooth keyboard<\/h4>\n

However when you connect your iPad (or iPhone) to an external Bluetooth keyboard<\/span>,\u00a0Figure 2<\/strong>. lists the Option-key sequences to use instead.<\/p>\n

Memory aids when using an external Bluetooth keyboard:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The accents are generated holding the option key while pressing a specific character, followed by the letter to be accented. Here are some memory aids to help remember which specific character,\u00a0to generate\u00a0each accent:<\/p>\n

accent grave: Option key + `<\/strong>, the actual “grave” accent, e.g. tr\u00e8s
\naccent aigu: Option key + e<\/strong>, the only letter in french with this accent, e.g.\u00a0\u00e9l\u00e9gant
\naccent circonflexe: Option key + i<\/strong>, e.g.\u00a0f\u00eate
\nu<\/strong>mlaut: Option key + u<\/strong>, e.g. No\u00ebl
